By 1987 or 1988 Singer Sewing Machines had bought Matsumoku and killed guitar production. By the beginning of 1984, the brand became Electra-Westone and by the end of 1984 just Westone. In the fall of 1983, the Electra Brand becomes Electra Phoenix. Some Korean production began in the early 80's.

By around 1981 ties with Matsumoku further solidified and decision eventually made to merge SLM's Electra brand with Matsumoku's Westone brand. Open-book headstocks changed to wave or fan shape by 1978. In 1975 the Tree-of-Life guitars debut with a leaf pattern carved into the top, and the Electra line expanded to 25 models. Simply called The Electra, was a copy of the Ampeg Dan Armstrong lucite guitar and issued in 1971, followed quickly by a variety of bolt-neck copies of other brands. The Electra line replaces SLM's Japanese made Apollo and US made Custom Kraft lines. Most of the instruments were made by Matsumoku in Matsumoto Japan. 20 Fret~ 34" Scale Single"Magnaflux" P style pickup with adjustable poles Electra guitars were imported from Japan by St. GUITAR CASE WILL NOT BE INCLUDED! Electra westone guitar parts serial#
I believe this to be the X630JB model from 1980 based on the serial number. It is a 1980's vintage Electra Phoenix P bass style electric bass guitar. This guitar is"Deluxe" all the way and I think it would be difficult to find one of the Complete w/Original Hardshell Deluxe Case. The frets look to have plenty of life left in them the instrument intonates extremely well.literally plays like a dream. This kind of construction does a good job of eliminating unwanted feedback. I haven't opened the back plate to actually see inside the body but by tapping on the plates you can feel a hollowed area to both treble and bass bouts, in other words there seems to be a solid block of wood running down the center underneath the pickups. Also please note the absence of"f" holes. This model features SOLID BRASS String Nut, Bridge and Tailpiece for super sustain. All the electrics work perfectly.the pots are nice and clean and by pulling up on the tone knobs you can split the pickups for single coil function or Humbucking use. The truss rod works very smoothly, just as it should. Overall it has just a couple of light scratches here and there, original original all the way and of course to me it shows very little wear and tear for a 40+ year old musical instrument. The finish is absolutely gorgeous, I don't know what you'd call it kind of a light sunburst. Other than that the instrument is complete w/all original parts, in extremely clean probably seen moderate to little careful use original nice.no, let me say very nice conditions. Doesn't seem to effect it's use but realize that at some point since this guitar in all other areas is in such fine shape you might want to replace it. The shaft on the"D" 4th string tuning machine is very slightly bent. This one is very similar in design to the Gibson es335 model archtop but without"f" holes. more referred to as"Lawsuit" guitars from the Golden Era of Japanese Luthier artistry.
